Tips for lip care and exfoliation during the dry season

When the autumn wind starts to blow, your lips are the first to complain of dryness than your skin. Have you ever had problems with dry, peeling skin, vertical wrinkles, and cracks, and even though you reapply your lipstick multiple times a day, it doesn’t improve? Lips have no sebaceous glands and the stratum corneum is extremely thin, so there are many cases where self-care that you think is good has the opposite effect.

Worst 3 bad habits that cause the opposite effect (peeling, licking, sideways painting)

First, let’s change the three major NG behaviors that we tend to do unconsciously.

  1. Tear off the peeled skin: There are only a few layers of stratum corneum on the lips, and if you forcefully peel them off, you will damage even the living cells, leading to bleeding, inflammation, and pigmentation.
  2. Lick your lips with your tongue the moment you feel dry: When saliva evaporates, it removes the natural moisture from your lips, stimulating digestive enzymes and causing extreme dryness (cheilitis).
  3. Apply lip balm horizontally from side to side: Lips have vertical wrinkles (grooves). If you apply it with horizontal friction, you won’t be able to reach deep into the wrinkles, and you’ll end up peeling up the dead skin.

Hypoallergenic lip scrub made with honey + sugar to remove dead skin cells

Sugar scrubs that you can make at home are the best way to safely remove dead skin cells. Salt is too irritating, so use sugar, which is easily soluble in water and has a moisturizing effect.

  • Ingredients: 1 teaspoon honey, 1 teaspoon caster sugar or cane sugar (you can also add a little olive oil)
  • Care instructions:
    1. Apply a cotton ball dampened with lukewarm water to your mouth to soften and soften your lips.
    2. Apply the honey and sugar paste on your lips and gently massage in small circular motions with your fingertips for 1 minute.
    3. Rinse with lukewarm water or gently wipe with damp cotton.

Just do it once a week to get rid of stiffness and restore smooth texture.

Moisturizing wrap pack that blends along vertical wrinkles

Immediately after removing dead skin cells, do intensive moisturizing without any interruptions. Apply lip balm or petroleum jelly liberally along the vertical lines of your lips, top and bottom, apply a small piece of food-grade plastic wrap, and leave it on for 3 to 5 minutes. The balm melts with your body heat, and moisture penetrates deep into your lips, leaving them plump and soft.
